Sāvatthinidānaṁ.  At Sāvatthī.

“Saṁyojaniye ca, bhikkhave, dhamme desessāmi saṁyojanañca.  “Mendicants, I will teach you the things that are prone to being fettered, and the fetter.

Katame ca, bhikkhave, saṁyojaniyā dhammā, katamaṁ saṁyojanaṁ?  What are the things that are prone to being fettered? And what is the fetter?

Rūpaṁ, bhikkhave, saṁyojaniyo dhammo;  Form is something that’s prone to being fettered.
yo tattha chandarāgo, taṁ tattha saṁyojanaṁ.  The desire and greed for it is the fetter.

viññāṇaṁ saṁyojaniyo dhammo;  Consciousness is something that’s prone to being fettered.
