Sakulātherīgāthā  Sakulā

“Agārasmiṁ vasantīhaṁ,  While staying at home
dhammaṁ sutvāna bhikkhuno;  I heard the teaching from a monk.
Addasaṁ virajaṁ dhammaṁ,  I saw the stainless Dhamma,
nibbānaṁ padamaccutaṁ.  extinguishment, the state that does not pass.

Sāhaṁ puttaṁ dhītarañca,  Leaving behind my son and my daughter,
dhanadhaññañca chaḍḍiya;  my riches and my grain,
Kese chedāpayitvāna,  I had my hair cut off,
pabbajiṁ anagāriyaṁ.  and went forth to homelessness.

Sikkhamānā ahaṁ santī,  As a trainee nun,
bhāventī maggamañjasaṁ;  I developed the direct path.
Pahāsiṁ rāgadosañca,  I gave up greed and hate,
tadekaṭṭhe ca āsave.  along with associated defilements.

Bhikkhunī upasampajja,  When I was fully ordained as a nun,
pubbajātimanussariṁ;  I recollected my past lives,
Dibbacakkhu visodhitaṁ,
Dibbacakkhu visodhitaṁ → visodhitaṁ dibbacakkhuṁ (bj); dibbacakkhuṁ
and purified my clairvoyance,
vimalaṁ sādhubhāvitaṁ.  immaculate and fully developed.

Saṅkhāre parato disvā,  Conditions are born of causes, crumbling;
hetujāte palokite;
palokite → palokine (sya1ed, sya2ed, pts1ed, pts2ed, mr)
having seen them as other,
Pahāsiṁ āsave sabbe,  I gave up all defilements,
sītibhūtāmhi nibbutā”ti.  I’m cooled and quenched.

… Sakulā therī ….
