1"Bhikkhus, there are these two kinds of happiness. What two? The happiness of a layperson and the happiness of one who has gone forth into homelessness.[n.300] I read with Be pabbajitasukhaṁ, as against Ce and Ee pabbajjāsukhaṁ. The contrast between gihī and pabbajita seems more logical than that between gihī and pabbajjā. These are the two kinds of happiness. Of these two kinds of happiness, the happiness of one who has gone forth is foremost."

1"Dvemāni, bhikkhave, sukhāni. Katamāni dve? Gihisukhañca pabbajitasukhañca. Imāni kho, bhikkhave, dve sukhāni. Etadaggaṁ, bhikkhave, imesaṁ dvinnaṁ sukhānaṁ yadidaṁ pabbajitasukhan"ti.
