1"Bhikkhus, there are these two kinds of happiness. What two? The happiness bound up with acquisitions and the happiness without acquisitions. These are the two kinds of happiness. Of these two kinds of happiness, the happiness without acquisitions is foremost." [n.301] Upadhisukha and nirupadhisukha. On upadhi, see AN2.2, n. 219. Mp glosses the former as the happiness of the three planes (sense-sphere, form, and formless planes). It glosses the latter as world-transcending happiness (lokuttarasukha).
