1"Bhikkhus, without directly knowing and fully understanding the eye,[n.93] This sutta and the next closely resemble SN35.26. without developing dispassion towards it and abandoning it, one is incapable of destroying suffering. Without directly knowing and fully understanding the ear … the mind, without developing dispassion towards it and abandoning it, one is incapable of destroying suffering. But by directly knowing and fully understanding the eye … the mind, by developing dispassion towards it and abandoning it, one is capable of destroying suffering." sn.iv.90

1"Cakkhuṁ, bhikkhave, anabhijānaṁ aparijānaṁ avirājayaṁ appajahaṁ abhabbo dukkhakkhayāya. Sotaṁ … ghānaṁ … jivhaṁ … kāyaṁ … manaṁ anabhijānaṁ aparijānaṁ avirājayaṁ appajahaṁ abhabbo dukkhakkhayāya. Cakkhuñca kho, bhikkhave, abhijānaṁ parijānaṁ virājayaṁ pajahaṁ bhabbo dukkhakkhayāya … pe … jivhaṁ … kāyaṁ … manaṁ abhijānaṁ parijānaṁ virājayaṁ pajahaṁ bhabbo dukkhakkhayāyā"ti.
