A Perfected One

“Ārakattā arahā hoti.  “Mendicants, it’s by being impeccably remote from seven things that you become a perfected one.
Katamesaṁ sattannaṁ?  What seven?
Sakkāyadiṭṭhi ārakā hoti, vicikicchā ārakā hoti, sīlabbataparāmāso ārako hoti, rāgo ārako hoti, doso ārako hoti, moho ārako hoti, māno ārako hoti.  Substantialist view, doubt, misapprehension of precepts and observances, greed, hate, delusion, and conceit.
Imesaṁ kho, bhikkhave, sattannaṁ dhammānaṁ ārakattā arahā hotī”ti.  It’s because of being impeccably remote from these seven things that you become a perfected one.”

Aṭṭhamaṁ.
