SN7:5 Ahiṁsaka

1At Sāvatthī. Then the brahmin Ahiṁsaka Bharadvaja, Bharadvaja the Harmless, approached the Blessed One and exchanged greetings with him. [n.441] Spk says that the name Ahiṁsaka may have been assigned to him by the redactors because he "asked a question" (i.e., made an assertion) about harmlessness; or, alternatively, Ahiṁsaka may have been his given name. From his opening statement and the Buddha’s reply the second alternative seems more likely. When they had concluded their greetings and cordial talk, he sat down to one side sn.i.165 and said to the Blessed One: "I am Ahiṁsaka the Harmless, Master Gotama. I am Ahiṁsaka the Harmless, Master Gotama."
The Blessed One:
2v.324 "If one were as one's name implies
You would be a harmless one.
But it is one who does no harm at all
By body, speech, or mind,
Who really is a harmless one
As he does not harm others."
3When this was said, the brahmin Ahiṁsaka Bharadvaja said to the Blessed One: "Magnificent, Master Gotama! … " And the Venerable Ahiṁsaka Bharadvaja became one of the arahants.
1Sāvatthinidānaṁ. Atha kho ahiṁsakabhāradvājo brāhmaṇo yena bhagavā tenupasaṅkami; upasaṅkamitvā bhagavatā saddhiṁ sammodi. Sammodanīyaṁ kathaṁ sāraṇīyaṁ vītisāretvā ekamantaṁ nisīdi. Ekamantaṁ nisinno kho ahiṁsakabhāradvājo brāhmaṇo bhagavantaṁ etadavoca: "ahiṁsakāhaṁ, bho gotama, ahiṁsakāhaṁ, bho gotamā"ti.
2"Yathā nāmaṁ tathā cassa,
siyā kho tvaṁ ahiṁsako;
Yo ca kāyena vācāya,
manasā ca na hiṁsati;
Sa ve ahiṁsako hoti,
yo paraṁ na vihiṁsatī"ti.
3Evaṁ vutte, ahiṁsakabhāradvājo brāhmaṇo bhagavantaṁ etadavoca: "Abhikkantaṁ, bho gotama … pe … abbhaññāsi. Aññataro ca panāyasmā ahiṁsakabhāradvājo arahataṁ ahosīti.
