Bahukārasutta
Vuttañhetaṁ bhagavatā vuttamarahatāti me sutaṁ:This was said by the Blessed One, said by the Arahant, so I have heard:
“Bahukārā, bhikkhave, brāhmaṇagahapatikā tumhākaṁ ye vo paccupaṭṭhitā cīvarapiṇḍapātasenāsanagilānapaccayabhesajjaparikkhārehi.
vo → ye te (bj, sya-all)“Monks, brahmans & householders are very helpful to you,
as they provide you with the requisites of robes, alms food, lodgings, & medical requisites for the sick.
Tumhepi, bhikkhave, bahukārā brāhmaṇagahapatikānaṁ yaṁ nesaṁ dhammaṁ desetha ādikalyāṇaṁ majjhekalyāṇaṁ pariyosānakalyāṇaṁ sātthaṁ sabyañjanaṁ, kevalaparipuṇṇaṁ parisuddhaṁ brahmacariyaṁ pakāsetha.
yaṁ → ye (?)And you, monks, are very helpful to brahmans & householders,
as you teach them the Dhamma admirable in the beginning, admirable in the middle, admirable in the end;
as you expound the holy life both in its particulars & in its essence, entirely complete, surpassingly pure.
Evamidaṁ, bhikkhave, aññamaññaṁ nissāya brahmacariyaṁ vussati oghassa nittharaṇatthāya sammā dukkhassa antakiriyāyā”ti.In this way the holy life is lived in mutual dependence,
for the purpose of crossing over the flood, for making a right end to stress.”
Etamatthaṁ bhagavā avoca. Tatthetaṁ iti vuccati:
“Sāgārā anagārā ca, ubho aññoññanissitā;Householders & the homeless in mutual dependence Ārādhayanti saddhammaṁ, yogakkhemaṁ anuttaraṁ.both reach the true Dhamma: the unsurpassed safety from bondage.
Sāgāresu ca cīvaraṁ, paccayaṁ sayanāsanaṁ;From householders, the homeless receive requisites: Anagārā paṭicchanti, parissayavinodanaṁ.robes, lodgings, protection from inclemencies.
Sugataṁ pana nissāya, gahaṭṭhā gharamesino;
Sugataṁ → puggalaṁ (mr)While in dependence on those well-gone, home-loving householders Saddahānā arahataṁ, ariyapaññāya jhāyino.have conviction in Arahants of noble discernment, absorbed in jhāna.Idha dhammaṁ caritvāna, maggaṁ sugatigāminaṁ;Having practiced the Dhamma here– the path leading to good destinations– Nandino devalokasmiṁ, modanti kāmakāmino”ti.delighting in the deva world, they rejoice, enjoying sensual pleasures.
