Ajātasutta

Vuttañhetaṁ bhagavatā vuttamarahatāti me sutaṁ:This was said by the Blessed One, said by the Arahant, so I have heard:

“Atthi, bhikkhave, ajātaṁ abhūtaṁ akataṁ asaṅkhataṁ.“There is, monks, an unborn–unbecome–unmade–unfabricated. No cetaṁ, bhikkhave, abhavissa ajātaṁ abhūtaṁ akataṁ asaṅkhataṁ, nayidha jātassa bhūtassa katassa saṅkhatassa nissaraṇaṁ paññāyetha. If there were not that unborn–unbecome–unmade–unfabricated, there would not be the case that escape from the born–become–made–fabricated would be discerned. Yasmā ca kho, bhikkhave, atthi ajātaṁ abhūtaṁ akataṁ asaṅkhataṁ, tasmā jātassa bhūtassa katassa saṅkhatassa nissaraṇaṁ paññāyatī”ti.But precisely because there is an unborn–unbecome–unmade–unfabricated, escape from the born–become–made–fabricated is thus discerned.”

Etamatthaṁ bhagavā avoca. Tatthetaṁ iti vuccati:

“Jātaṁ bhūtaṁ samuppannaṁ, kataṁ saṅkhatamaddhuvaṁ;The born, become, produced, made, fabricated, impermanent, Jarāmaraṇasaṅghāṭaṁ, roganīḷaṁ pabhaṅguraṁ.
roganīḷaṁ → roganiḍḍhaṁ (bj); roganiddhaṁ (sya-all) | pabhaṅguraṁ → pabhaṅgunaṁ (si, pts-vp-pli1, mr); pabhaṅguṇaṁ (sya-all)
fabricated of aging & death, a nest of illnesses, perishing,

Āhāranettippabhavaṁ, nālaṁ tadabhinandituṁ;come-into-being through nourishment and the guide [that is craving]– is unfit for delight. Tassa nissaraṇaṁ santaṁ, atakkāvacaraṁ dhuvaṁ.The escape from that is peaceful, permanent, a sphere beyond conjecture,

Ajātaṁ asamuppannaṁ, asokaṁ virajaṁ padaṁ;unborn, unproduced, the sorrowless, stainless state, Nirodho dukkhadhammānaṁ, saṅkhārūpasamo sukho”ti.the cessation of stressful qualities, stilling-of-fabrications bliss.

Ayampi attho vutto bhagavatā, iti me sutanti.

Chaṭṭhaṁ.
