Paṭisallānasutta
Vuttañhetaṁ bhagavatā vuttamarahatāti me sutaṁ:This was said by the Blessed One, said by the Arahant, so I have heard:
“Paṭisallānārāmā, bhikkhave, viharatha paṭisallānaratā, ajjhattaṁ cetosamathamanuyuttā, anirākatajjhānā, vipassanāya samannāgatā, brūhetāro suññāgārānaṁ.
Paṭisallānārāmā → paṭisallāṇārāmā (mr)“Monks, live enjoying aloofness, delighting in aloofness, inwardly committed to awareness-tranquility,
not neglecting jhāna, endowed with clear-seeing insight, and frequenting empty buildings.
Paṭisallānārāmānaṁ, bhikkhave, viharataṁ paṭisallānaratānaṁ ajjhattaṁ cetosamathamanuyuttānaṁ anirākatajjhānānaṁ vipassanāya samannāgatānaṁ brūhetānaṁ suññāgārānaṁ dvinnaṁ phalānaṁ aññataraṁ phalaṁ pāṭikaṅkhaṁ—As you live enjoying aloofness, delighting in aloofness,
inwardly committed to awareness-tranquility, not neglecting jhāna,
endowed with clear-seeing insight, and frequenting empty buildings, then one of two fruits can be expected:
diṭṭheva dhamme aññā, sati vā upādisese anāgāmitā”ti.either gnosis right in the here-&-now, or–if there be any remnant of clinging-sustenance–non-return.”
Etamatthaṁ bhagavā avoca. Tatthetaṁ iti vuccati:
“Ye santacittā nipakā, satimanto ca jhāyino;
satimanto ca → satimantova (bj, mr)Those with calm minds– masterful, mindful, absorbed in jhāna– Sammā dhammaṁ vipassanti, kāmesu anapekkhino.clearly see Dhamma rightly, not intent on sensual pleasures.Appamādaratā santā, pamāde bhayadassino;Delighting in heedfulness, calm, seeing danger in heedlessness, they Abhabbā parihānāya, nibbānasseva santike”ti.–incapable of falling away– are right in the presence of Unbinding.
