Kodhasutta

Vuttañhetaṁ bhagavatā vuttamarahatāti me sutaṁ:This was said by the Blessed One, said by the Arahant, so I have heard:

“Ekadhammaṁ, bhikkhave, pajahatha;“Abandon one quality, monks, and I guarantee you non-return. ahaṁ vo pāṭibhogo anāgāmitāya. Katamaṁ ekadhammaṁ?Which one quality? Kodhaṁ, bhikkhave, ekadhammaṁ pajahatha;Abandon anger as the one quality, and I guarantee you non-return.” ahaṁ vo pāṭibhogo anāgāmitāyā”ti.

Etamatthaṁ bhagavā avoca. Tatthetaṁ iti vuccati:

“Yena kodhena kuddhāse, sattā gacchanti duggatiṁ;The anger with which beings go to a bad destination, enraged: Taṁ kodhaṁ sammadaññāya, pajahanti vipassino;from rightly knowing that anger, those who see clearly let go. Pahāya na punāyanti, imaṁ lokaṁ kudācanan”ti.Letting go, they never come to this world again.

Ayampi attho vutto bhagavatā, iti me sutanti.

Catutthaṁ.
