Mūlasutta
Vuttañhetaṁ bhagavatā vuttamarahatāti me sutaṁ:This was said by the Blessed One, said by the Arahant, so I have heard:
“Tīṇimāni, bhikkhave, akusalamūlāni.“Monks, there are these three roots of what is unskillful. Katamāni tīṇi?Which three? Lobho akusalamūlaṁ, doso akusalamūlaṁ, moho akusalamūlaṁ—Greed as a root of what is unskillful, aversion as a root of what is unskillful, delusion as a root of what is unskillful. imāni kho, bhikkhave, tīṇi akusalamūlānī”ti.These are the three roots of what is unskillful.”
Etamatthaṁ bhagavā avoca. Tatthetaṁ iti vuccati:
“Lobho doso ca moho ca, purisaṁ pāpacetasaṁ;Greed, aversion, delusion destroy the self-same person of evil mind Hiṁsanti attasambhūtā, tacasāraṁva samphalan”ti.from whom they are born, like the fruiting of the bamboo.
