Mānasutta
Vuttañhetaṁ bhagavatā vuttamarahatāti me sutaṁ:This was said by the Blessed One, said by the Arahant, so I have heard:
“Ekadhammaṁ, bhikkhave, pajahatha;“Abandon one quality, monks, and I guarantee you non-return. ahaṁ vo pāṭibhogo anāgāmitāya. Katamaṁ ekadhammaṁ?Which one quality? Mānaṁ, bhikkhave, ekadhammaṁ pajahatha;Abandon conceit as the one quality, and I guarantee you non-return.” ahaṁ vo pāṭibhogo anāgāmitāyā”ti.
Etamatthaṁ bhagavā avoca. Tatthetaṁ iti vuccati:
“Yena mānena mattāse, sattā gacchanti duggatiṁ;The conceit with which beings go to a bad destination, proud: Taṁ mānaṁ sammadaññāya, pajahanti vipassino;from rightly knowing that conceit, those who see clearly let go. Pahāya na punāyanti, imaṁ lokaṁ kudācanan”ti.Letting go, they never come to this world again.
