Nissaraṇiyasutta
Vuttañhetaṁ bhagavatā vuttamarahatāti me sutaṁ:This was said by the Blessed One, said by the Arahant, so I have heard:
“Tisso imā, bhikkhave, nissaraṇiyā dhātuyo.
nissaraṇiyā → nissāraṇīyā (an5.200:1 [200. Nissāraṇīyasutta])“Monks, there are these three properties for escape.
Katamā tisso?Which three?
Kāmānametaṁ nissaraṇaṁ yadidaṁ nekkhammaṁ, rūpānametaṁ nissaraṇaṁ yadidaṁ āruppaṁ, yaṁ kho pana kiñci bhūtaṁ saṅkhataṁ paṭiccasamuppannaṁ nirodho tassa nissaraṇaṁ—This is the escape from sensuality:
renunciation.
This is the escape from form:
formlessness.
And as for whatever has come into being, is fabricated & dependently co-arisen, the escape from that is cessation.
imā kho, bhikkhave, tisso nissaraṇiyā dhātuyo”ti.These are the three properties for escape.”
Etamatthaṁ bhagavā avoca. Tatthetaṁ iti vuccati:
“Kāmanissaraṇaṁ ñatvā, rūpānañca atikkamaṁ;Knowing the escape from sensuality, & the overcoming of forms Sabbasaṅkhārasamathaṁ, phusaṁ ātāpi sabbadā.–ardent always– touching the stilling of all fabrications:
Sa ve sammaddaso bhikkhu, yato tattha vimuccati;he is a monk who’s seen rightly. from that he is there released. Abhiññāvosito santo, sa ve yogātigo munī”ti.A master of direct knowing, at peace, he is a sage gone beyond bonds.
