Vitakkasutta
Vuttañhetaṁ bhagavatā vuttamarahatāti me sutaṁ:This was said by the Blessed One, said by the Arahant, so I have heard:
“Tayome, bhikkhave, akusalavitakkā.“Monks, there are these three kinds of unskillful thinking. Katame tayo?Which three? Anavaññattipaṭisaṁyutto vitakko, lābhasakkārasilokapaṭisaṁyutto vitakko, parānuddayatāpaṭisaṁyutto vitakko.Thinking concerned with not wanting to be despised; thinking concerned with gains, offerings, & tribute; thinking concerned with an empathy for others. Ime kho, bhikkhave, tayo akusalavitakkā”ti.There are three kinds of unskillful thinking.”
Etamatthaṁ bhagavā avoca. Tatthetaṁ iti vuccati:
“Anavaññattisaṁyutto, lābhasakkāragāravo;Fettered to not wanting to be despised; to gains, offerings, respect; Sahanandī amaccehi, ārā saṁyojanakkhayā.to delight in companions: you’re far from the ending of fetters.
Yo ca puttapasuṁ hitvā, vivāhe saṁharāni ca;
saṁharāni → saṅgahāni (bj, sya-all, pts-vp-pli1)But whoever here, having abandoned sons, cattle, marriage, intimates: Bhabbo so tādiso bhikkhu, phuṭṭhuṁ sambodhimuttaman”ti.he’s capable –a monk like this– of touching superlative self-awakening.
